Lots of Good Folk

Posted on 4 December 20224 December 2022 by Admin

Today, with very little notice, we were informed that there was going to be a community meeting. The 1st thing I thought was, Hooboy ANOTHER community meeting.

I wonder if anyone from the community meeting called less than a month ago would be here and the answer was a resounding no. This highlights one of the major problems in Kalbaskraal. There is a newly formed group/committee representing the people of the village, but no-one at this meeting knows about them. They have a committee and all.

This group is bound to do the same and then we will have two groups representing the village and both making similar demands from municipality and more. BUT..

Here is the thing. This is NOT at a negative thing, if we can catch it in time. This can be a terrific thing and let me tell you why.

Once more it shows that there are people that want to help, there are people that want change, there are people that can make impact, there are people that are tired of what Kalbaskraal has become and most of all there are lots of them.

The main problem though is this, they are divided OR do not know about each other and that too is exciting. Because if we rewrite that sentence a little bit and ADD something to it, it could read like this.

Although there are many groups trying to do the same thing, and they are divided, it is because they have not been put in touch with each other YET….

Can you imagine what will happen when they do.

It is far less difficult to put people who are hungry for change together, than to find people that are prepared to volunteer.

Many of the tasks and sub groups that this body of people recognized as required are already well on No-Stone Agenda and plans and partnerships are already in place – we are just looking for people with passion to help us roll them out.

Let us see what we can do to get the community full of communities to build and work together on our future.

Some amazing people trying to make a change.

Meeting at the Primary School here was also refreshing.

No-Stone House

Has moved to Skool Street. Come and see Saskia's Place, the library or come and watch the reading programmes take place. OR if you would like to sit in at Jo's Cafe' a place of safety where young people can just come and be. We will start soon with out Saturday morning programmes.

Our Team

The team has a mix of youth and experience, energy and wisdom. The bulk of the team live in Kalbaskraal. Again, this is headed up by Heike (with 24 yrs of outreach ministry experience) and Mark (40 yrs of coaching at various levels and sports). We can then add Jo-Anne with her 30 years of ministry and outreach.

Our Relationships

We have strong relationships with many ministries and companies. Each supporting us in various ways and in Kalbaskraal and out. Our prime focus is to be a complete service provider for the local primary school OJ Erasmus, and sourcing any resources that they require. Keep in mind that this is a model we are building to move onto other rural schools in the Swartland.
