We are excited to announce that Nombuso Sambu, a Master’s student in Community Mental Health Promotion at the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP), will be joining No-Stone Foundation as part of her year-long placement and research journey.
Nombuso’s SACAP programme is designed to train professionals who can bridge the gap between mental health, community development, and social sustainability. Her role with us is to research, assess, and co-create interventions that strengthen the resilience of both individuals and communities. Through participatory action research, she will help us identify real needs, explore practical opportunities, and test approaches that weave sustainability into every layer of our work.
Over the past weeks, this work has already begun in a very tangible way. We have identified and started working alongside a local crew of five women from our own community, laying the groundwork for deeper engagement, skills development, and shared ownership. This local team will form a key part of the programme as it launches to the wider public in February, ensuring that what we build is not imported or theoretical, but rooted, relational, and locally sustained.
Nombuso will be contributing to several of our initiatives, including:
Bo-Kamp – our long-term village development initiative focused on dignity, resilience, and holistic upliftment.
Soul & Soil – a Saturday morning wellness programme offering practical workshops on real-life issues often missed in under-resourced communities, followed by fellowship over coffee and light snacks.
Other projects – literacy and learning spaces, sports development, food security, environmental sustainability, and animal care — all integral to our vision of holistic community growth.
“I’m looking forward to having a sounding board to test thoughts and ideas — and to add a dynamic that is often missing when you work too closely inside your own projects. Nombuso brings an energy and perspective that will challenge and sharpen us, which is exactly what we need.”
— Mark Moore, Executive Director, No-Stone Foundation
This partnership is both practical and forward-looking. While Nombuso gains hands-on experience and contributes to her academic research, No-Stone gains fresh perspective, structured assessment, and a documented intervention process that strengthens our capacity for long-term sustainability and meaningful social impact.
We warmly welcome Nombuso into the No-Stone family and look forward to a journey of discovery, learning, and transformation — one that is already taking shape in our community and will open more fully in the months ahead.
