Sewing

Stitching Creativity: Unveiling Our New Seamstress Haven

Sewing for Community Development

Welcome to The No-Stone Foundation’s initiative of sewing for community development! At our core, we believe in the power of unity, creativity, and skill-sharing to uplift our community in Kalbaskraal. Our sewing project is more than just stitching fabrics together; it’s about weaving the threads of empowerment, sustainability, and growth.

Empowering Through Skill:

Sewing is an art that has been passed down through generations. At The No-Stone Foundation, we’re dedicated to nurturing this skill within our community. By providing sewing workshops and training sessions, we aim to empower individuals with a valuable skillset. Through sewing, community members can create not only beautiful garments but also opportunities for themselves.

Sustainability Through Upcycling:

We strongly believe in the principles of sustainability. Our sewing project emphasizes the concept of upcycling, where we transform discarded fabrics and materials into new and useful items. This approach not only reduces waste but also encourages resourcefulness. As a result, we’re contributing to a greener and more environmentally-friendly community.

Fostering Creativity and Collaboration:

Sewing is a canvas for creativity. Our project encourages community members to explore their artistic talents and create unique pieces. Whether it’s crafting clothing, accessories, or home decor items, we’re fostering a space where imagination knows no bounds. Moreover, our sewing sessions promote collaboration and camaraderie, allowing individuals to learn from one another and share their ideas.

Empowering Economic Growth:

By equipping individuals with sewing skills, we’re paving the way for economic growth within our community. As people become proficient in sewing, they can explore entrepreneurial avenues, such as starting small sewing businesses or contributing to local markets. This economic empowerment leads to financial independence and a stronger local economy.

Creating a Tapestry of Community:

Our sewing project aims to create a tapestry of community connections. Through shared workshops, creative sessions, and collaborative projects, we’re threading the bonds that tie us together. We envision a community where individuals support and uplift one another, where the fruits of our labor benefit us all.

Join us in this journey of stitching hope, creativity, and progress into the fabric of our community. Together, we’ll sew the seeds of a brighter future for Kalbaskraal.

For more information about our sewing project and how you can get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Let’s sew the seeds of change, one stitch at a time.

No-Stone House

Has moved to Skool Street. Come and see Saskia's Place, the library or come and watch the reading programmes take place. OR if you would like to sit in at Jo's Cafe' a place of safety where young people can just come and be. We will start soon with out Saturday morning programmes.

Our Team

The team has a mix of youth and experience, energy and wisdom. The bulk of the team live in Kalbaskraal. Again, this is headed up by Heike (with 24 yrs of outreach ministry experience) and Mark (40 yrs of coaching at various levels and sports). We can then add Jo-Anne with her 30 years of ministry and outreach.

Our Relationships

We have strong relationships with many ministries and companies. Each supporting us in various ways and in Kalbaskraal and out. Our prime focus is to be a complete service provider for the local primary school OJ Erasmus, and sourcing any resources that they require. Keep in mind that this is a model we are building to move onto other rural schools in the Swartland.
