The Coolest Marathon on Earth

Posted on 23 August 202323 August 2023 by Tim

Do you know what’s cool ….. ?

What No-Stone Foundation does to build a sense of community, independence and self-respect in the desperately deprived community of Kalbaskraal.

Do you know what else is pretty cool …. ?

The Polar Circle Marathon in Northern Greenland

Often referred to as “The Coolest Marathon on Earth” – it takes place every October. The endless ice and arctic tundra of this vast country are the backdrop for this unusual race, in which runners race through the soundless arctic desert past glacier tongues and moraine landscapes. Only the most daring athletes take part in this extremely challenging running event!

What are we doing about it you may ask?

One of our Board Directors, Stuart Deel-Smith, is running the Polar Circle Marathon to raise funds for the incredible work that No-Stone does with 100% volunteer time and effort.

What are you going to do about this ?

Invest in karma and click the “donate” button above to directly support us with R250, £25 or $25 or just the price of a take-away coffee to help make a huge difference transforming people’s lives and establishing a dignified community.

No-Stone House

Has moved to Skool Street. Come and see Saskia's Place, the library or come and watch the reading programmes take place. OR if you would like to sit in at Jo's Cafe' a place of safety where young people can just come and be. We will start soon with out Saturday morning programmes.

Our Team

The team has a mix of youth and experience, energy and wisdom. The bulk of the team live in Kalbaskraal. Again, this is headed up by Heike (with 24 yrs of outreach ministry experience) and Mark (40 yrs of coaching at various levels and sports). We can then add Jo-Anne with her 30 years of ministry and outreach.

Our Relationships

We have strong relationships with many ministries and companies. Each supporting us in various ways and in Kalbaskraal and out. Our prime focus is to be a complete service provider for the local primary school OJ Erasmus, and sourcing any resources that they require. Keep in mind that this is a model we are building to move onto other rural schools in the Swartland.
