At the heart of any thriving community lies the principle that small efforts, when combined, can create a significant impact. Today, we are excited to share a perfect example of this in Kalbaskraal, where multiple initiatives are coming together to drive meaningful change. The next season of the SEF/Goedgedacht programme is about to begin, and this time, we’re adding No-Stone to the mix, creating a powerful collaboration: the SEF/Goedgedacht/No-Stone programme.
Earlier today, we reached a significant milestone by signing contracts for 20 individuals who will be employed through this programme until April 2025. These contracts represent not just jobs, but a commitment to our community and its future. The projects we have lined up are focused on Kalbaskraal, ensuring that the benefits of this collaboration are felt right where they are needed most.
This morning, we had the pleasure of seeing these dedicated individuals come together at Saskia’s Place, our beloved library that No-Stone established in honor of Saskia. This gathering was more than just a meeting—it was a symbol of the collective effort we’re putting into our community.
The beneficiaries of this newly launched SEF/Goedgedacht/No-Stone programme are varied and many. The local school, OJ Erasmus, will be a primary focus, as will the No-Stone Campus and the wider community of Kalbaskraal. We’re also excited to support local residents who are working hard to establish sustainable vegetable gardens, and our projects are designed to bolster their efforts.
One of the most exciting initiatives under this programme is our plan to plant 50 fruit trees in and around Kalbaskraal over the next quarter. These aren’t just saplings—we’re talking about mature trees that will provide immediate benefits. Not only will they offer shade and beauty, but they’ll also supply fresh fruit to the community, creating a tangible symbol of growth and sustainability.
Beyond the physical work, this programme is also about education. We’re committed to teaching anyone who’s interested about permaculture, ensuring that the knowledge we share can be passed on and multiplied. Additionally, we’re offering first aid training to a select group, further equipping our community with the skills needed to thrive.
This is just the beginning. Stay posted for more updates as we continue to build, grow, and nurture our community—together.
