Empowering Story Bringers for a Brighter Future:

Greetings from The No-Stone Foundation! Today, we’re excited to share our journey in preparing our dedicated Story Bringers to make a lasting impact on the young minds of Kalbaskraal through the Nalibali reading program.

Last week marked a significant milestone as we introduced our Story Bringers to the Nalibali reading program, a vital initiative aimed at nurturing the love for reading among our community’s youth. Today, we’re thrilled to report that we conducted our very first practical test to ensure our Story Bringers are well-equipped for the task ahead.

The essence of our Story Bringers program lies in its unique approach. Unlike traditional curriculum-driven methods, we are story-driven. We believe in the power of stories to captivate young hearts and minds. Rhymes, visuals, and engaging games serve as our stimuli, creating a dynamic and immersive learning experience for our children.

Under the careful stewardship of Carol from Nalibali and our very own Peta, our partnership has flourished, and we’ve been able to bring the magic of storytelling to Kalbaskraal in an unprecedented way. Together, we’re lighting the path to a brighter future through the joy of reading.

Leading our Story Bringers with unwavering dedication is Peta, with very many years of hands on experience, who has taken up the role of heading this remarkable program. Peta’s passion for storytelling and education is the driving force behind our Story Bringers, ensuring that they are nurtured and guided to reach their full potential.

By being Story Bringers, our tutors go beyond teaching mere words and facts. They bring the magic of storytelling to life, weaving tales that ignite imaginations and inspire a lifelong love for reading. This approach is not just about passing knowledge; it’s about sparking curiosity, fostering creativity, and building connections with literature.

As we continue this journey, each day brings us closer to the first week of the next term, when our Story Bringers will set out on their mission to kindle the joy of reading in the hearts of Kalbaskraal’s youth. We are also excited to mention that we will be receiving materials from the Western Cape Cultural Affairs and Sport, which will further enrich our storytelling arsenal.

Today, we celebrate Janine, and tomorrow, it’s Mannetjie’s turn to step into the shoes of a Story Bringer. With each passing day, we grow more confident in our tutors’ abilities to transform our community, one story at a time.

Stay tuned for more updates from The No-Stone Foundation and our remarkable Story Bringers as we embark on this literary adventure together.

No-Stone House

Has moved to Skool Street. Come and see Saskia's Place, the library or come and watch the reading programmes take place. OR if you would like to sit in at Jo's Cafe' a place of safety where young people can just come and be. We will start soon with out Saturday morning programmes.

Our Team

The team has a mix of youth and experience, energy and wisdom. The bulk of the team live in Kalbaskraal. Again, this is headed up by Heike (with 24 yrs of outreach ministry experience) and Mark (40 yrs of coaching at various levels and sports). We can then add Jo-Anne with her 30 years of ministry and outreach.

Our Relationships

We have strong relationships with many ministries and companies. Each supporting us in various ways and in Kalbaskraal and out. Our prime focus is to be a complete service provider for the local primary school OJ Erasmus, and sourcing any resources that they require. Keep in mind that this is a model we are building to move onto other rural schools in the Swartland.
