Dear friends and supporters,
We write to you today with a heavy heart. A recent storm that swept through Kalbaskraal, a rural village near Cape Town, has left a trail of destruction in its wake. Much infrastructure was damaged and among the structures affected was a creche for farm workers’ children, which was severely damaged.
The creche provides education and care for children in the community at a nominal fee. No one really understands how it covers its costs, but it seems mostly from donations. The destruction caused by the storm has left the creche in a dire situation, and it needs all the help it can get.
As the No-Stone Foundation, an NGO based in Kalbaskraal, we are committed to helping the community and have taken on the responsibility of remedying the situation. However, due to a lack of funding, progress has been slow. Local builders took advantage of the situation and built a poorly constructed extension, which has only made matters worse.
We are now seeking your support to repair and rebuild the creche properly. The estimated cost of repairs is R20 000-00, but the immediate need is for R6500-00 to make the area safe and modify (permanently) another area for the school, as well as patch some roofing problems until the rebuild can take place.
The children in the community deserve access to quality education and care, and we are committed to making that a reality. Your contribution will go a long way in helping the children of the community get the education and care they deserve. Together, we can make a difference.
