Digital Footprint: Bridging the Gap for Inclusive Accessibility
We, The No-Stone Foundation, in partnership with Learning Empowerment Network (LEN) – a non-accredited education initiative, are proud to announce our collaborative efforts to address the limited digital footprints of children living in rural poverty. Our shared vision is to make the digital realm more accessible to all individuals, regardless of their circumstances.
LEN has been operating since 2015, offering free and open online courses to all who have a desire to learn. Their platform provides a variety of short and full-length courses at school, college, and professional levels, all built by subject matter experts. What sets LEN apart is their commitment to providing education that is available to complete at one’s own pace, on their own schedule, and free of charge.
In our increasingly digital world, the concept of a digital footprint has become more relevant than ever. It represents the trail of information and data we leave behind through our online activities. However, it is disheartening to acknowledge that certain individuals, like children living in rural poverty, are unable to create a digital footprint due to limited access or understanding. This disparity highlights the urgent need for inclusive accessibility.
Through our partnership with LEN, we aim to empower and enable individuals from all backgrounds to leave a meaningful digital footprint. We believe that every child, regardless of their socioeconomic status or geographical location, should have the opportunity to access and engage with the digital realm. By combining our resources and expertise, we will work towards providing the necessary infrastructure, such as internet connectivity, digital literacy programs, and affordable devices, to bridge the digital divide.
In the first phase of our initiative, we will be offering Computer Basic skills and knowledge courses, which will be held at the No-Stone House on Saturday mornings. These courses are specifically designed for young individuals from Grade 4 and above. By equipping them with fundamental digital skills, we aim to lay a strong foundation for their digital literacy journey.
Moving forward, the second phase of our initiative will focus on running similar courses in the evening, tailored for adults. We believe that digital literacy knows no age limit, and it is essential to empower adults with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape confidently.
To ensure the success of our enrollment concept, we will be working closely with OJ Erasmus Primary School. Through collaboration with the school, we will identify and enroll individuals who would benefit the most from these courses. By aligning our efforts, we can effectively bridge the gap and provide targeted support to those in need.
The No-Stone Foundation and LEN are committed to fostering digital inclusion and creating equal opportunities for individuals to leave a meaningful digital footprint. Together, we envision a future where everyone can access and engage with the digital world, regardless of their circumstances.
