The Grand Opening

Posted on 4 November 20234 November 2023 by Admin

A Celebration of Hope: Saskia's Place Library is Open

Dear readers and community champions! Today, we bring you the heartwarming tale of a day filled with excitement, joy, and a commitment to a brighter future at Saskia’s Place Library.

The grand opening was a spectacle of wonder, with the little ones bubbling with anticipation. It was as if they had discovered a treasure trove, rushing to the books like children to a Christmas tree. In those gleaming eyes and eager smiles, we witnessed the magic of books igniting young minds.

This event holds a special place in our hearts—a memorial to Saskia, a promise to cherish her memory by creating a haven where safety, acceptance, and the love of learning intertwine. Saskia’s Place stands as a refuge for the young and old, a sanctuary free from judgment, where minds can absorb the wisdom within the pages of countless books.

As the children explored the shelves, a spontaneous call went out for Coach to join them. The response was overwhelming, with eager faces surrounding him as he settled down to read. It was a beautiful moment, a testament to the power of community and the shared joy of storytelling.

Yet, amid the celebration, a stark reality surfaced. The depth of the educational challenges some children face became evident. Thirteen-year-olds and eleven-year-olds struggling to read highlighted the urgency to address this issue. And so, the next chapter unfolded— the creation of a reading champions class, a beacon of hope for those who need it most.

The experience was both humbling and exciting, a bittersweet symphony echoing through the walls of Saskia’s Place. While it may be too late for some, the commitment forged that day ensures that it’s not too late for others. Saskia’s Place Library is not just a physical space; it’s a promise to stand against the shadows of the past and illuminate the path toward a brighter future.

In the spirit of unity, community, and unwavering hope, we move forward. The grand opening of Saskia’s Place Library marks not only a celebration of literature but a commitment to rewriting the stories of the lives it touches.

Let the journey begin, one page at a time.

In over three decades of dedicated social and community work,  Saskia’s Place Library stands as one of the most thrilling, humbling, and satisfying endeavors. As we savor this moment, we’re reminded that the harvest of knowledge is vast, and while our hands are eager, there is much work ahead. The journey continues, fueled by the passion to nurture minds and cultivate a community where every story finds its place in the tapestry of hope and possibility.

Our Relationships

We have strong relationships with many ministries and companies. Each supporting us in various ways and in Kalbaskraal and out. Our prime focus is to be a complete service provider for the local primary school OJ Erasmus, and sourcing any resources that they require.
