Nurturing Young Minds

The No-Stone Reading Programme and the Integration of our Library

Greetings from the heart of Kalbaskraal! It’s been an incredible journey over the past two months as we’ve delved into the enchanting world of stories with our vibrant group of grade ones. At The No-Stone Campus, we believe in the power of storytelling, and our reading programme, inspired by the Nal’ibali philosophy, is transforming young minds in ways we couldn’t have imagined.

Our approach is a unique blend of the Nal’ibali philosophy with our own special touch, crafted from the wisdom gained in more than 25 years of working with young hearts and minds. The commitment and passion of our dedicated team, from trainers and managers to those who prepare delicious meals for the kids and the amazing champions coaching our little ones, create a harmonious symphony of learning and joy.

The magic unfolds as the day begins with snacks and fun activities with our crew, setting the perfect tone for the adventure ahead. Armed with chalkboards we’ve lovingly crafted, the children draw their experiences, and our champions assist them in writing the corresponding words. It’s a captivating journey to witness how their drawings and personalities blossom through each session, a testament to the growth taking place within.

But the story doesn’t end there. Thanks to the support from Saskia’s place and the Department of Culture (Libraries), our young enthusiasts are now the proud inaugural members of our very own library. They’ve eagerly taken books home, becoming not just readers but explorers of new worlds.

This achievement is a result of cooperation, passion, vision, and, we dare say, a sprinkle of favor. Looking forward to the next chapter, we’re excited to announce that next year, we’ll be expanding our reading classes to four times a week. Our dream is to extend this opportunity beyond the young minds and into the community, envisioning a night class reading school for adults who share our love for the written word.

The journey ahead is filled with excitement, growth, and endless possibilities. Together, let’s continue weaving the fabric of knowledge, one story at a time.

No-Stone House

Has moved to Skool Street. Come and see Saskia's Place, the library or come and watch the reading programmes take place. OR if you would like to sit in at Jo's Cafe' a place of safety where young people can just come and be. We will start soon with out Saturday morning programmes.

Our Team

The team has a mix of youth and experience, energy and wisdom. The bulk of the team live in Kalbaskraal. Again, this is headed up by Heike (with 24 yrs of outreach ministry experience) and Mark (40 yrs of coaching at various levels and sports). We can then add Jo-Anne with her 30 years of ministry and outreach.

Our Relationships

We have strong relationships with many ministries and companies. Each supporting us in various ways and in Kalbaskraal and out. Our prime focus is to be a complete service provider for the local primary school OJ Erasmus, and sourcing any resources that they require. Keep in mind that this is a model we are building to move onto other rural schools in the Swartland.
