Greetings, Kalbaskraal enthusiasts! Buckle up for a ride as we recount the thrilling, sometimes chaotic, but undeniably fantastic Boxing Day Box Cart Races that unfolded in our beloved village. In collaboration with The Jade, Donovan from The Kalbaskraal Boutique Hotel, The No-Stone Foundation, Arbor Vitae Designs, SupplyWise, and a sprinkle of community magic, this event was nothing short of epic.
The day kicked off with a symphony of wheels, cheers, and the tunes spun by the team. Families united, each showcasing their unique box carts—some resembling Formula 1 cars, others turning agricultural implements into racing wonders. The air buzzed with excitement as wheels spun, and engines roared (or at least, tried to).
Enter the pit crew, led by the dynamic duo, Donovan and Stephen. With skillful hands and determination, they kept the race on track, fixing broken axles and reattaching runaway wheels. The No-Stone Foundation played a crucial role in organizing the event, ensuring every detail contributed to the joyous chaos.
Jade, with her charm, played the role of the masterful macky, reeling us all in and having the kids eating out of her hand. As the countdown began, an unexpected delay occurred—a family arrived with the Cadillac of Box Carts, a real limo with a driver’s seat and a two-seater behind. Perfectly Imperfect’s space-age streamlined speed machine stole the show, even if it ventured off-road.
Picture Le Mans, but with a Kalbaskraal twist—bedlam at the start, chaos into the first corner, but then a spreading out, with two laps sealing the race. Not satisfied with just one round, the madness repeated, bringing laughter and joy to all.
Prize time was a spectacle, thanks to the incredible generosity of The Kalbaskraal Hotel and The No-Stone Foundation. Sweets, ice lollies, cupcakes, trophies, and even chassis with wheels were showered upon the kids. A special nod to SupplyWise for donating chassis and wheels, with a heartfelt thanks to Callan. Arbor Vitae Designs stepped in, taking the wheels from Supplywise and skillfully attaching them to the wooden chassis, ensuring the racing spirit lives on at home.
A massive thank you echoes through Kalbaskraal to all who made this day unforgettable. To the contestants—your enthusiasm and creativity were truly amazing! Now, let’s not forget the heartbeat of this event—the tunes. Coach Mark, our resident DJ, wove a tapestry of sounds that transcended cultures, uniting us all in the joy of the moment. As the tunes played through, they became the soundtrack to a day that celebrated diversity and community spirit.
To the unsung heroes—the spectators, helpers, supporters, mechanics, benefactors, sponsors, and everyone else who played a part, your efforts are cherished and remembered. Marlene, Chantel, Donovan, Steve, Thina, Karl, Jackes, Maryke, Party Hire, and many more, thank you for making this day a harmonious and thrilling experience.
As we wrap up this chapter, we look forward to more adventures with The No-Stone Foundation and Kalbaskraal’s vibrant community. Stay tuned for the next thrilling event!
